The Standard Poodle is one of the most obedient and smartest dogs, that has a playful enthusiasm and adventurous spirit. Poodles love to hunt, swim, run and retrieve. They love to cuddle with their owners and they develop a deep bond with their family members. Their intelligence and eagerness to please make them great service dogs.

Standard Poodles are medium-sized dogs. They are typically 16 inches to 24 inches tall. Female poodles typically weigh 40-50 lbs. as adults. Males are slightly heavier at 60-70 lbs. They have a graceful appearance and a proud carriage. Their gait is springy, effortless, and light. Their coat is dense and curly.

Standard Poodles are talkative dogs. Therefore they are considered moderate barkers. They communicate through their bark and frequently tell you when they hear an unusual noise or when they hear a familiar car drive up the driveway. They also bark when they are excited to play and when they are not comfortable with a family member's safety. For example, kids rough housing or wrestling would cause your poodle pup concern and they would feel the need to communicate that through their bark.
